Threads of Time II

GenConnect’s 2nd Cultural Showcase brought together the work of students from 4 Surrey high schools and GenConnect seniors to exchange cultural and traditional knowledge. Seniors visited the students several times throughout the semester to support and guide their creation of cultural artifacts, traditional crafts, dance, poetry, song, skits, and more. On Dec 4, we hosted a vibrant celebration of Punjabi art, music, and intergenerational connection featuring the work of over 300 students. The event highlighted how culture can foster belonging and community pride. It also demonstrated GenConnect’s mission in action, creating spaces where youth and seniors collaborate, learn from one another, and strengthen cultural continuity for generations to come. All together 5 school and over 350 people showed up to witness this event.
